Nova Sea is a premium salmon producer from the coast of Northern Norway — operating as an independent brand within the Mowi group. We have sourced, processed and sold salmon from the these waters for more than fifty years. We are small enough to stay flexible and personal, large enough to supply at volume — always uncompromising on fish welfare. From the water the fish is sourced from to the people you talk to, every choice is made with one thing in mind: delivering the finest salmon, every time.

In 1972, Steinar Olaisen and Hans Petter Meland began farming in the sea surrounding Lovund. They started with 1,200 smolt, flown in by seaplane, and one pen tended by coastal people who already knew how to handle fish and make a living from the sea. What started as a livelihood became a way to secure a future for Lovund: jobs, purpose, and a thriving small island community. The company remained family owned until 2025 — and the values they set in place still shape Nova Sea today.

Opened in 2026, the facility doubled our capacity without changing how we work. Every fish is kept calm throughout the process, because a salmon that is treated well tastes better. It's also a continued investment in Lovund itself, securing activity on the island for years to come.
